Ankeny Digest's Mission Statement

Good morning, Ankeny. Today we have a bit of a plot twist: this digest is a little different. I spent some time writing about why I started this thing in the first place. That means there's less actual news about Ankeny and more sappy "here's my mission statement" stuff. I only wrote it so you all feel inclined to share with all your friends. Joking…

On a real note, I wanted to take some time to tell you why I’m doing this.

I figured it's about time to let you all know why The Ankeny Digest was started. 

With technology, AI and a changing world. People are desperate for authentic, trusted voices in their community. They want news and stories that matter to them; that make them feel connected to where they live. Media today has forgot what local media is actually supposed to do: connect us.

To be honest; I have never really been the writing, typing, or publishing type until I started this. A very fair warning for you all: the grammar or spelling may not always be perfect. I  just went for it and started doing this by just thinking about what I'd want to know and read.

I thought about the conversations I want to have, the local businesses I want to support, and the neighbors I want to celebrate. My goal is to keep this a positive newsletter when there is so much negativity going on in today's world. Most importantly, you'll get a newsletter that exists to serve you, not the other way around.

The Ankeny Digest is about creating something you readers get excited about opening! Something that builds a community and highlights the people, places, and stories.

I have finally started setting up a Facebook and Instagram account for The Ankeny Digest. I would really like to get both of the account growing and in return, I promise I am going to start posting on them. FYI I am aware I should have done this a while ago, no need to reply letting me know. I’m thinking another way to post events, places to checkout, some reels, and ya know that type of content. Might even see what I can do with my drone to make something interesting! You’ll have to follow to see! 😉
