Good morning Ankeny! It’s officially fake spring tease season. I’m really trying not to get my hopes up. Fingers are crossed that it doesn’t get below 32 degrees again! Hopefully some of you were able to use the events from last week for a Valentine’s Day date. My girlfriend wanted me to tell you all that I didn’t take my own advice on reserving a date spot early. This unfortunately left me scrambling all Saturday morning.
In today’s digest:
Construction project - N.E. side of town
The most adoptable dog!
Live music, trivia nights and a new IPA?
Lets get started.

🏙️CIVIL NEWS
City Council Meeting - 2/9/26
Last week city council held a budget workshop focused on Operating Funds for FY2027. They reviewed funding for the general fund, road maintenance, police & fire retirement, and employee benefits. This is the early phase of planning for next year’s city budget (Keep it up Ankeny!). I’ll bring some more quick updates as discussions continue!

🏙️CITY UPDATES
Fourmile Creek Construction
Construction started last week on the Fourmile Creek in northeast Ankeny. Crews will be working to reduce bank erosion and reconnecting the creek to its natural floodplain. The work involves removing trees and brush, some dirt and grading work to reshape the slope. Followed by planting grasses, shrubs and tree for the conditions. In hopes of improving water quality, creating wildlife habitat and reducing erosion.
Job Opportunity!
FYI; this is not sponsored. Just figured it may be helpful if someone is in need of a career change! The city of Ankeny just posted a few jobs they are looking to fill. Offering full-time, part-time, seasonal and even a couple internships. There’s too many to list so I will leave the link HERE!
🐕 DOG OF THE MONTH
I have decided that we are going to be starting a dog of the month spotlight. Somewhere down the line I would like to be able to open up submissions for the readers of Ankeny Digest. This would consist of your favorite picture of your dog with a quick digest about the furry fella!

This month's featured pup is Wilbur Wright, a sweet senior who can be adopted through the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. This gentle soul loves nothing more than lounging around, snuggling as close as possible to his people, and serenading them with adorable snores.
He's a devoted companion who'll follow you from room to room (he's a bit of a micromanager and loves observing everything you do!). He's a perfect gentleman on walks and car rides, often resting his head on your shoulder.
This sweet boy is housetrained, great with kids, and thrives in apartment living where he feels calm and confident. He does best as the only pet and would love a home where he can be your one-and-only shadow and snuggle buddy. If you’re interesting in adopting, click this link.
